7 Tips For Learning and Mastering SEO and Rank Higher on Google

So you’ve been trying to figure out an easy way to understand SEO for a while now. Here are the 7 tips for learning and mastering SEO and ranking higher on Google.

You see others being able to do it and it seems like they are making it so….easy.

But for some reason, you’ve not had luck with it as yet.  Every time you get close understanding SEO and how you should be using it, something happens and you end up not making any progress.

Not this time.

Because this time you’re going to be armed with the same tips, and secrets that the professionals know.

So give these 7 tips a try and see if they don’t work for you too…..

  1. Claim your Google My Business Profile Listing and complete it. Add your business name, address, phone # operating hours, website URL, choose relevant categories, write a description, add any events etc.  Update this profile with at least 1 new item each week.
  2. Target long tail keywords vs. short tail keywords. The experts advise that long tail keywords have less competition than short tail keywords and it makes ranking on Google easier when creating content. Use these free tools:  ubersuggest.com   and  www.answerthepublic.com
  3. Be certain to choose core and related keywords on every page of your website. And you can also use Google as a tool to find the related keywords.  At the bottom of a search take a look at the section titled: Searches related to XXXX (xxx is what you entered in the search box)
  4. Optimize your title tags – and make them spicy. Your title tag is the first impression you make when someone comes to your post on your website.  It should be: Informative B) Optimized C) Spicy

Keep in mind that your title tag appears in Google search results.

  1. Use your keywords in headings as well as in paragraphs. This means that all your headings, like H1, H2, H3 etc. and Paragraphs, lists, table and so on should include your keywords.
  2. Make sure you write your content for Humans first, then search engines. Keyword-stuffed pages and title tags are not what Google wants to see when they crawl your site.  It’s important to put your audience first when you write your content.
  3. Develop longer content (1200 words or more) and go ahead and link to other sites. Links are a critical part of SEO.  Check out what Google lists as it’s Core Ranking Factors.  Google views internal and external linking as a sign of a healthy website with valuable content for their readers.

Being familiar with SEO is pretty simple when you follow the above tips.  So let me leave you with one last Bonus tip….

Include Keywords in your URLs, but keep the URL.s short.  Include your core keyword, but keep the URL to 5 words or less, when possible.   Use – (hypens) to separate words and use lowercase letters. Also avoid special characters like ! ‘ and #.
