Use These to Add More Hours to Your Day

Productivity is the combination of intelligent planning, focus, and recognition of your priorities.  It can be improved.  All you have to do is focus on one change at a time to make a massive impact in your life.

Here are 10 ways you can improve your productivity quickly and add hours to your day.

1. Prioritize your life, then make a To-Do list.

Do you know what you’re trying to achieve?  What are your priorities?  You need to figure those out before you start writing a to-do list.  Once you know your priorities, you can focus your to-do list accordingly.

2. Segment your time

Use a Pomodoro timer.  There are numerous apps you can download with this functionality for free.  Figure out how much time you want to be spending on the task and press start.  25-90 minutes cycles with breaks in between.  It’s a game changer.

3. Eliminate Distractions

This includes the phone, email notifications, smart watches and having multiple web browsers open on the desktop.  Shut everything down and focus on one thing at a time.

4. Eat your frog first up

The most dreaded task comes first.  Whether it’s cleaning the toilets, making the phone call to reject someone’s offer, or telling someone their services are no longer needed.  Whatever it is, you need to do it.

5. Morning Routine

Having a morning routine sets you up for an awesome day.  A collection of 5-6 habits/tasks you complete.  Meditation, stretch, run, journal, green juice……repeat.  It wipes out indecision and procrastination.  Aim to achieve these every single day.

6. Spend time preparing for the next day

If you know that you have to go to the gym, get the gym clothes out.  If you know there is a morning tea at work, get that sorted before you go to bed.  Don’t get up at 4am to bake the muffins.  Get the lunches prepared.  Don’t be scrambling in the morning.  Set that time aside for your morning routine which will set you up for the awesome day ahead.

7. Meal Planning

Plan your meals in advance.  Have a bulk cook-up, once a week.  That way you don’t have to worry about cooking every night.  Have it sorted in batches and ready in the freezer.  Take it out to defrost in the morning, so it’s easy to prepare for dinner.

8. Learn to say no to the things you don’t want or love

Stop wasting your time doing things that you are not enjoying.  If you don’t like the book you are reading, put it down.  Don’t force your way through it.

9. Use your spare time wisely

Listen to audio books or podcasts on the way to work or when traveling if you commute by train, car or foot.  It’s an excellent way to get inspired or learn new skills.

10. Learn how to ask for help

A game changer if you are one of those people who think they should manage everything by themselves.  Ask for help.  You may be surprised how much more you can get done when someone’s pitching in.

These are just ten ways to add hours onto your already busy day.  Don’t be the person that always says they don’t have enough time.  You can make more time, you just need to know where your priorities lay and work your life around them.  Be the person who nails it.
