Tips for setting you up to be successful in all your sales messages.  Every business uses sales messages, in written, audio, and video content.  These 5 tips will guide you when you need inspiration for your landing pages, promotional emails and social media posts.

5 Sales Copy Tricks and Tips

  1.  Write just the same way that you speak.  Don’t go overboard and use “salesy” language.  People are turned off by this and can recognize it a mile away.  Instead, use a casual tone and write from your heart.  Even better yet, pretend you are speaking to a real, specific person.  Also, share your personal stories and actual results.
  2. Be truthful.  If you are making impossible promises, stop doing that!  It’s best to be 100% truthful in all your sales copy.  Also, remember that the average American adult reads at around an 8th grade level, so be clear, and use simple language is always best.
  3. Talk in your Ideal Client’s language.  Forget the jargon for your industry.  Make your message clear by using words and phrases that identify their needs or desires.
  4. Use Video, as it works best and will take your conversions to a new level.  It’s time to stop ignoring Video.  Recent statistics show that campaigns that include video have a 34% higher conversion rate.  Don’t throw money away by not using video.

Ideas you should consider in your sales copy video:

  • Include short video testimonials from your happy customers
  • Do a personal intro video to help your audience get to know you better
  • If you sell a product, create a demo video and show it in action
  • Shoot an explainer video to give more info about your business, product, or service
  • Be concise instead of wordy.  Sometimes, especially on Social Media, shorter is better than long, wordy posts or articles.  HubSpot recently advised that email copy length is best at 50 to 200 words.  Shorter emails tend to receive better response rates of over 50%.  According to MarketingProfs, shorter social media posts, around 40 characters or less performed better.  When in doubt, just be clear and concise instead of wordy.

So… you can try both short and long sales messages and get your own results for future campaigns.

Just write from the heart and be authentic and stop stressing out about following a certain formula or template.  Being sincere, truthful and authentic will win every single time!
