What to post on Social Media, and why you can’t just copy and paste!

All the popular Social Media Networks are different, and your best course of action is to create content specifically for each one.  It’s not hard to do, you can use the same content, but just restructure it to the appropriate platform.

I’ll outline a few and give you some ideas below.  But remember to test these out for your audience and see which ones do the best for you and your business.

Facebook – The top interactive social media with 2.74 Billion users

Still the largest Social network and always changing their algorithm and features.

Here’s what is working best on Facebook in 2021:

  1. Video often wins on Facebook and gets more engagement.
  2. Carrousel  Posts ( several images added together in one post)
  3. List Posts  (top 10, 12, 15, 17 things to do, or  that improve   xxx)

Instagram – The first visual network, that is now owned by Facebook.

  1. Videos, including Reels (short video clips of 15, or 30 seconds)
  2. Photos that are unique
  3. Text Graphics
  4. Carousel Posts

Twitter – a microblogging platform with a character limit of 280.

  1. Text posts with Images or Video
  2. Curated content links with your own commentary
  3. Memes
  4. News trends

LinkedIn – The professional network, but it’s more than just a resume today.

  1. Share inspirational posts showing your thought leadership.
  2. Longer posts should be posted as articles.
  3. Video does well on LinkedIn.

Pinterest – The Image Search Engine.

  1. Use correct Pinterest Sized Images ( 1000  x  1500 px)
  2. Video Pins are fairly new and working well.
  3. Informational, educational and inspirational content.

So…… there you have some ideas on what to post and why you should take a little time to make each social network post unique to that platform.

And…..when Social Media becomes too much for you to handle, consider outsourcing this duty.
